I’m a “do-it-yourself” gal. I always have been, and I probably always will be. I’ve been brushing my teeth with salt and baking soda for quite some time, but recently I learned that I could step it up a notch and make my own toothpaste. Toothpaste is a term that I use fairly loosely, because this paste is not ultra smooth nor creamy. And, I haven’t figured out the art of getting it stuffed into a tube. In fact, it’s a little bit more like a scrub. But I have to admit. I love this scrub. It works great (and it only cost me a little over a $1.)
One of the main reasons why I love making my own products is because I know I don’t have to worry about any hidden flavorings, chemicals, or weird binders. Any and all, of those nasty’s can have an impact on your thyroid gland.
Your thyroid is a very fragile gland that sits right at the base of your throat. It just so happens that environmental toxins have the tendency to glom onto your thyroid and create a drag on your entire hormonal system.
This may not be the biggest problem that your thyroid faces, but hey…let’s make life easier when we can. Right?
I bet you’ll love this scrub. It’s quite easy to whip up and you can change the flavor any way you like just by changing the essential oils.
In the comment section, let me know what you think and tell me what unusual flavors you want to whip up.
Toothpaste 2 TBSP baking soda 2 TBSP sea salt 2 TBSP bentonite clay 1 ½ TTBSP coconut oil 10 drops tea tree essential oil 10 drops orange essential oil 20 drops peppermint essential oil
1. Add all ingredients to a food processor and blend. *Tip: I added the coconut oil last. And I only added ½ TBSP at a time so that I could get it to my desired consistency. I like a firm scrub. If you like your toothpaste more smooth, just add a little bit more coconut oil.
